Philippine Transportation

Kalesa is a horse drawn calash (carriage) used in the Philippines. The word, also spelled calesa, predates the Spanish conquest and descends ultimately from an Old Church Slavonic word meaning "wheels."A calesa looks like an inclined cart. It has two round wheels on each side and two rows of seats that can accommodate four persons.

Transportation in the Philippines is relatively underdeveloped, partly due to the mountainous areas and scattered islands, this is also the result of the government's persistent underinvestment in the infrastructure of the country.Jeepneys are the most popular mode of public transportation in the Philippines, they also have become a ubiquitous symbol of the Philippine culture

Another popular mode of public transportation in the country are the Tricycles,Tricykad and Motorcyle   ( habalhabal), they are a common means of passenger transport in the country especially on rural areas.
